VFA system is designed for telephone operators, that have to manage growing telephone users demand in rural areas, without investing heavily in new cable infrastructure or even new telephone exchanges. It is also suitable for densely populated areas with limited copper infrastructure, as a replacement for local telephone exchange in larger apartement buildings, dense populated areas/quarts or factories.

Interconnection between local telephone exchange - CLASS5 and VFA access node is via V5.2 protocol. Physical layer connection is accomplished with two E1 links, that via V5.2 concentration cable endable communication/connection of up to 300 POTS users. VFA system resides in a standard 19" rack, together with optional battery backup.

VFA system is interoperable on the V5.2 protocol level with major telephone exchange models as: Iskratel SI2000, Siemens EWSD, Lucent 5ESS, Alcatel S12/S10, etc.
